The St. David’s Foundation granted $150,000 to the LifeWorks Youth and Adult Counseling program for Fiscal Year 2011. The grant will fund new counseling positions and provide additional program support to counsel approximately 1200 individuals, youth and their families in one year. This gift provides critical support during a time when families are stressed by increased economic and personal hardships and are unable to pay for costly mental health care.
The Youth and Adult Counseling program assists individuals, youth and families in dealing with the stress of day-to-day living by improving and utilizing their existing coping skills and creating effective solutions. Focusing on strengths, the program helps identify goals for short-term therapy and works with each client to explore issues and create effective solutions.
