The 2011 Austin/Travis County Homeless Count is in need of more than 300 volunteers to conduct a point-in-time estimate and survey of Austin’s unsheltered individuals. This year’s Count and Survey is scheduled for Sunday, January 23rd, 2011 at 1 pm, with a rain date scheduled for Jan 30th, 2011.
We need your help. The information gathered by volunteers during the 2011 Homeless Count & Survey is critical to our ongoing efforts, but we need your help to make it possible. We will provide you with all the training you will need to conduct the survey. You will also be able to watch a quick convenient online orientation to get an overview of the event. Please visit the website for more information.
Mitch Weynand, LifeWorks COO, is a Team Leader for the count as is heading up the group counting in the University area (MLK-Mopac-45th-IH35). If you have some time on Sunday 1/23/11 between 1 and 7 he could use your help – you don’t have to commit to the whole 6 hours – 2 or 3 hours would be great. Register online that then let Mitch know you want to help his team. This involves lots of walking – great Wellness activity!
The next volunteer training session is scheduled for Thursday, January 20th from 6 – 8 pm at ATCIC, 1700 S. Lamar in the large training room.
